Genetika publishes orginal papers, short communications, review articles and letters to the editor on topics in genetics.
Manuscripts must be submitted in english. The style should be clear and concise. The text should be double-spaced on one side of A4 paper, with ample margins and without hypenation.
The orginal papers (up to 12 pages) should be arranged in sections as follows: Title page, Abstract, Introduction, Matherials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, References, Summary in Serbian.The title page should contain the title, names and affilation of the author(s), indicating the author for correspodance, address, phone, fax and/or e-mail. The Abstract should be printed on a separate page and not exceed 400 words, followed with Key words and a concise four or five words (45 characters or less) running title. Results and Discussion can be given as one section. The Summary, written in Serbian, contains the following: The Title, Authors name(s) and affialtion and text up to 400 words. Gene, mathematical symbols and scientific names should be italised. Short communications (up to 6 pages) do not have to be divided into section, but Abstract and Summary in serbian should be included. New techniques and methods may be submitted as short communications. Review articles (up to 16 pages) should give thorought studies on particualar topics in genetics. They do not have to include experimental details. Letters to the editor (up to 4 pages) usually relate to the comments on published papers or to the opinions and discussions on the most recent within different fields of genetics. Short critical reviews and suggestions are also accepted. They all do not include Abstract and Summary in Serbian.
References should be given separetly and arranged alphabetically, as follows: author(s) names initials and full last name(s), all CAPITALIZED, the year in brackets, the title of the paper, the title of the journal (for books: the name(s) of editor(s) and the address of the publisher); volume in italics, number in brackets and pages (first-last). The title of journal should be abbreviated according to the international system of abbreviations. If there are two or more papers of the same author(s), they should be listed by chronical order. If the same author(s), appears several times in the same year, letters should be added (1992a, 1992b, 1992c, etc). If one author appears individually and as the first authors with several co-authors, his individual papers should be listed first. Unpublished papers could be listed only if they are already in press.
The references cited in the text should be CAPITALIZED and should include the author(s) name(s) and the year of publication in brackets. When more than two authors are cited, the first authors name should appear folowed by:et al.
Tables and Figures should be given separetly and reffered to in the text by Arabic numerals according to their order of citation. Their approximate position should indicated in the text. Tables should be typed double-spaced. The title should be typed above the table, concise and clear. The footnotes should be explicit and typed below the table.
Figures should be of good quality, legible and clear even after size reduction. They should be grouped wherever possible. Photos and illustration should be of good quality, on glossy paper. Each must be identified on its back by author’s name and figure number indicating the orientation if necessary. The caption and the legend must be given on a separate sheet. Color photos will only be published at the author’s expense. The appropriate request should be submitted together with the maniscript.
An orginal of the manuscript and two copies in printed form together with a saved copy as an electronic file on a diskette or CD should be sent to the Editorial board. In order to avoid delays in publishing, the authors should also submit a copy of the complete manuscript in electronic form to email genetika@dgsgenetika.org.rs or msnezana@mrizp.rs.

The papers which are not fully preapred according to the Instruction will not be considered for publishing. Author’s will be provided with 20 free reprints. Additional copies may be ordered at author’s expense.
